Harlan Ellison's Dream Corridor Vol. 2
Ten years after the publication of Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor Quarterly #1 (1996) the Dream Corridor series is completed and collected in this tradepaperback collection. HEDC Vol Two collects the content of HEDCQ#1, including the related Framing Sequence pages, as well as other material that was created for later, unpublished issues of HEDCQ. This was the last issue of Dream Corridor material produced to date, and the text in the framing sequences heavily implies that there will be no more issues.
It includes some interesting material, including the unfinished adaptation of “Eyes of Dust” that classic “Superman” artist Curt Swan was working on at the time of his death in 1996. The story is represented by two pages of penciled art Swan had finished, along a montage of Steve Niles script pages. Gene Colan’s art for the adaptation of “Moonlighting” is also presented in a unique format. As Colan’s pencils are left un-inked before being colored and lettered, each page of art is presented in both final form and original pencil format.
The “Story Behind the Cover” from HEDCQ #1, “The Lingering Scent of Woodsmoke” based on the painting by Terese Nielsen is collected in this issue. Also included is the story “Goodbye To All That” and the Kent Bash painting it was based on. This would have been intended as the cover to a later issue of HEDCQ.
At the time this volume was published Dark Horse Books, the non-comic publishing arm of Dark Horse Comics, had also published a new edition of HE’s novel Spider Kiss. There were also plans to turn Dream Corridor into an anthology television series or direct to DVD movie, through Dark Horse’s movie production arm.
