Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor Special is the first in the Dream Corridor series. It was followed by Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor #1-6 (1995), Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor Quarterly #1 (1996), Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor Vol. 1(1996), and Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor Vol. 2 (2007).

Each issue featured adaptations of Ellison’s short stories by a variety of writers and artists, along with a framing sequence starring HE in the role of narrator. The framing sequences were written by Harlan with art Eric Shanower.

The other regular feature of Dream Corridor were the original cover paintings and the “Story Behind The Cover” feature. Each issue would feature a new cover painting which Harlan Ellison would then use as the basis for an original short story that would be printed in that issue. The Special featured a new cover by Stephen Hickman which, along with Michael Whelan’s cover to Dream Corridor #1, inspired the story “Midnight In The Sunken Cathedral” which ran in two parts between the two issues.

Other Content

The inside front cover includes the indicia and the inside back cover is a horizontal photo of Ellison. The first interior page is a title page and the second includes credits and a remembrance by Ellison of artist Doug Wildey, who died before the issue was published but whose story The End of the Time of Leinard is included.

Notes

Reprinted in a Second Edition, which featured slightly adjusted content. Later reprinted in Harlan Ellison's Dream Corridor Vol. 1.
