The Illustrated Harlan Ellison
The Illustrated Harlan Ellison was one of many books produced by Byron Preiss Visual Publications, founded by Byron Preiss in 1974. They produced a variety of works combining text, illustration, and sequential art. Other works include the “Fiction Illustrated” series, which included Jim Steranko’s Chandler: Red Tide, the Weird Heroes anthology series, The Illustrated Roger Zelazny, and Howard Chaykin’s adaptation of Alfred Bester’s The Stars My Destination. He later founded iBooks which would publish an edition of Ellison’s Vic And Blood comic books. Byron Preiss was killed in a car accident in 2005 and his company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy a year later.
The Illustrated Harlan Ellison includes illustrated editions of several Harlan Ellison short stories. The illustrated version of “‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said The Ticktockman” features 3-D art by Jim Steranko, and the book included bound-in 3-D glasses.
Also features an introduction by Byron Preiss.
